Learning Abroad: Oulton Students Return from Educational Trip Abroad

MONCTON, NB – Hands-on learning is a core element of Oulton’s approach to education. Students from this year’s Travel and Hospitality program recently returned from their educational trip to Mexico. The trip, which is part of the course curriculum, helps students better understand international hospitality and resort management.

“In the travel industry, companies often send their employees on familiarization trips to better acquaint their employees with a particular brand, geographical region or style of resort,” says Jordan Bach, an instructor with the Travel and Hospitality program. “While we were abroad, students had daily homework and assignments, depending on where they were on that particular day. The purpose of our trip was aimed at creating a familiarization trip for the Mayan Riviera.”

A number of students from this year’s Travel and Hospitality program have already accepted jobs in the hospitality industry, or are planning to travel abroad to familiarize themselves with different parts of the world.
