Practical Nursing Class Attends ANBLPN Annual General Meeting

MONCTON, NB – The Association of New Brunswick Licensed Practical Nurses recently held their Annual General Meeting of 2015 in Fredericton. Faculty and students of Outlon College’s Practical Nursing program were in attendance, engaging with their future colleagues and learning more about the importance of ANBLPN and their profession.

“This is the association's [ANBLPN] 50th anniversary year, they have provided LPN's with support and advanced the role of the practical nurse over the years,” says Rob Burnett, an instructor for the Practical Nursing program at Oulton.

The College’s Practical Nursing program will soon be graduating another group of highly trained professionals. Through the combined classroom theory and hands-on training delivered through the College’s state-of-the-art nursing laboratory, these students will enter the work force prepared to fill the workforce demands.

“While attending the AGM, the students were witness to two fantastic speakers, Dr. Dan Kopp, and Dr. Tim Christie.  Dr. Kopp enlightened the students on the topic of collaborative practice, specifically relationship-based care,” says Burnett.  “Dr. Tim Christie challenged the students on everyday ethical situations which they may encounter and how these ethics are even more difficult given the social media prevalence of today.”

Students from the Practical Nursing program at Oulton College attended the ANBLPN AGM in Fredericton, marking the association's 50th anniversary.
