Oulton Students Participate in Suicide Prevention Month 'Day in Yellow' Challenge

MONCTON, NB – February is suicide prevention month in New Brunswick, a province-wide initiative aimed at educating and raising awareness related to suicide. Students, staff and faculty at Oulton College participated in this year’s Day in Yellow challenge by encourage our community to wear yellow on Friday, February 6th.

The initiative is being organized province-wide by the Canadian Mental Health Association of New Brunswick. According to the organization’s press release, the Day in Yellow is aimed at engaging the community in a collaborative effort to eradicate stigma, begin conversations and raise awareness related to suicide.  On campus, the Day in Yellow initiative was lead by students and faculty of the Family and Community Services program. In addition to raising awareness about suicide prevention, students and faculty also auctioned off yellow shirts, with all proceeds being donated to the Canadian Mental Health Association.
